Impersonation Advisory
Is it really Rightscenter?
We never charge rights holders
We never charge rights holders (authors, estates, agents, publishers and attorneys) to list their works with us and keep their contact information on file so that interested parties can reach them. We are paid by our entertainment company clients for our expertise and concierge research services.
We do not buy, sell, or negotiate rights
We are not agents, producers or publishers; we do not do any optioning, buying or selling of rights, or any kind of negotiating at all. We are only asking on behalf of a client that has specifically requested contact and availability information about your work.
We are not scouts
We are also not scouts; we do not solicit information on your works for the purpose of pitching to our clients. We likely have not read your book and are not offering to send it to any clients with our recommendation.
Check the sender’s email address
Be sure to check the email address of senders. We only use @rightscenter.com email addresses. Check HERE for typos in the names of our associates and our company.
Beware of requests for payment or QR codes
Be aware that there are marketing companies soliciting authors and requesting money to register their works in our database to obtain a QR code, claiming it’s necessary to promote an author’s titles and required by publishers and studios to enter negotiations.
This is false. We have no affiliation or relationship with these marketing companies, and we do not charge rights holders or issue QR codes.
Verify the contact details
Make sure that the contact information matches the information on our website and/or in previous communications. Impersonators often use very similar but slightly different company names, email addresses and websites (e.g. The Rightscenter, Rights-Center, Rightscentre, etc.).
