FAQs
Are you an author, agent or publisher who received an inquiry from our team and would like to learn more about the work we do? Please find answers to our most frequently asked questions below:
Are you trying to sell me something?
NO. We never charge rights holders (authors, estates, agents, publishers and attorneys) to list their works with us and keep their contact information on file so that interested parties can reach them. We are paid by our entertainment company clients for our expertise and concierge research services.
*We’ve been made aware that there are marketing companies soliciting authors and requesting money to register their works in our database to obtain a QR code. They claim this is necessary to promote an author’s titles and required by publishers and studios to enter negotiations. This is false. We have no affiliation or relationship with these marketing companies, and we do not charge rights holders or issue QR codes.
Why did I receive an inquiry from you?
In most cases, you received an inquiry from us because one of our clients specifically requested this information about your work. We handle approximately 7,000 of these requests from clients each year, representing the vast majority of our outreach. To anticipate the needs of our clients, we also initiate research on upcoming titles of note.
Who are your clients?
We perform rights research on behalf of 125+ entertainment clients with interest in adapting books and other literary material for the screen. Our clients include major film and television studios, streaming services, networks, production companies, agencies, management companies, scouts and publishers. Most of our clients are in the US, with others in the UK, Canada and Mexico. A small sampling of our current subscribers is featured on our
main page.
What can I expect after answering your inquiry?
We do not get involved in our clients’ pursuits beyond rights research. If a title is confirmed available in principle, we provide the contact information to our client so they can reach out directly when they are ready to discuss further.
Can I submit additional titles to be added to your database? Can I submit my titles even if you haven’t contacted me?
Any rights holder can submit titles they control for film/television so that status and contact info can quickly and easily be found by our clients, who make up the majority of companies involved in the business of adapting of books and other literary properties for the screen. Again, this is completely free. You can use
this form to register as a rights holder.
Will any information I provide be made public?
No. Information about your titles and any contact details you provide us will not be made public. Our database is behind a paywall for vetted industry professionals.
