Rightscenter's Film Rights Directory (FRD) is a comprehensive database of literary adaptation rights.
The FRD allows rights buyers to quickly find agent and availability information on a title or author.
The FRD covers material dating back to pre-1900, as well as books that have just sold to publishers;
it includes in-print and out-of-print material as well as upcoming releases. It covers all literary works —
including books, short stories, plays and magazine articles.
Currently, producers and studios inquiring about film rights embark upon a lengthy and labor-intensive process
requiring multiple telephone calls, faxes, and other correspondence over the course of weeks — sometimes months.
By the time an answer is received, a huge amount of effort has been expended and the opportunity to pursue a property
may have been lost. By contrast, the FRD allows producers and film studios to obtain rapid answers that allow them to
more quickly develop film and television projects.
A subscription to the FRD includes unlimited access to the database, as well as our unlimited rights checks service.
This allows users to check rights to both properties that are not yet posted, and properties for which they would like
updated availability information.
